About the moderator:
Taylor Hosking is a journalist who started off writing about Black and LGBTQ culture movements in music, film and TV in The Atlantic and VICE newsrooms. Then, as a podcast producer she lead-produced multiple podcast talk shows and audio documentary projects for clients like Netflix, NPR, The New Yorker, and Sony. That included original audio documentaries like HBO’s Insecure Interludes about the music culture impact of Insecure’s soundtrack. Now, she’s in the middle of a festival run for her debut feature documentary West Side Familia about the untold legacy of the Puerto Rican and Black community resisting erasure in her family’s neighborhood on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, which premiered as the Opening Night Film of BlackStar Film Festival this year. And her screenwriting work has landed her a feature script editing role with Spike Lee’s 40 Acres and a number of screenwriting fellowships run by Cord Jefferson (American Fiction, Watchmen) and Mike Gauyo (Insecure, Ginny & Georgia)
